everywhere you look...babies!

yeah, so...still avoiding india, i decide to study in byron bay ,
nsw, australia for a month with dena (i returned last year for 6 more weeks-for her teacher's intensive & 2 whole weeks of sharath). byron bay is the eastern most point in australia, almost in queensland-the very north of new south wales. it's a total surf town. that part of australia really feels like california in the 1970s. there's nothing to do unless you are into water sports & other extreme types of adventure. i'm afraid of heights and i did this

hangliding with joe

hang-gliding. longest 30 minutes of my life. did it cure my height fear? let's just say i probably won't do it again.

but the view was spectacular. this is what i flew over

hang gliding in oz

surfing reigns supreme

surf

you can go to tropical fruit world & see this

giant avocado

the big avocado-one of many "big" things throughout australia. i've also seen the "big" banana & the "big" prawn.

i visited mt.warning, part of tweed volcano -an actual prehistoric volcano-climbed to the top to watch the first sunrise in the world. the hike began at 2am in pitch black on skinny rock filled trails going up. boy were my ankles hurting the next day. the jungle was filled with ancient trees. it felt prehistoric. because it was. beautiful. & SO eerie! i can't even tell you how powerful the energy is inside of it. i've been in volcanos in hawaii before. the energy makes me cry. this was a different thing, but still so strong. i feel really connected to old energy.

here's that sunrise. at the time, my camera was horrible, this is scanned & is not a satisfactory representation

sun3

people carried habachis & cooked breakfast at the summit. cracked open bottles of champagne. it was "australia day" and no one seemed to know what that meant. anyhow, descending this mountain was interesting because it had been pitch black on the way up (we had small torches, but that was it)

bird

beautiful laid back surfing skateboarding hippy town. that's byron bay

there is something special here. and it has to do with fertility. i have heard that women come to byron to get pregnant. the waters are powerful to wade in. there are lots of spritualists & psychics living there. one psychic advised me to go into the waters daily to cleanse energies. they are indeed powerful. and it's true-everywhere you look-babies!
